    John Hinckley Books-Please!

John, have you considered writing Corvette books including the knowledge and detail you graciously provide us? It would be a real benefit and I don't know where else all of that related knowledge could come from. We will pay well!

    Thanks!

    Steve -

Writing books is a LOT of work (and research), as those who do it for a living can attest. I AM writing a book, but it's 1964-1985 GM-oriented, not specifically Corvette-oriented; the more I write, the more stuff I remember, and I work on it in spurts. It's taking longer than I anticipated, but I'll get it done eventually.

I would love to have the Corvette Enthusiast articles in a single volume. The factory build process articles alone would easily justify the cost of the book. Tell the magazine publisher there is a big demand out here. Maybe they will publish a best of collection!

I would love to have a complete collection of John's CE articles. Is there a contact at CE that could be lobbied?

When did John first start writing for CE? I have issues that go back quite a ways. Perhaps I may have them all in my library. But then, even though I am a writer as well (retired), and because of that, I refuse to plagiarize. So, eat your heart out. You'll have to wait on John. Good thought though. We old farts are dropping like flys, many without having documented their life's work.

John, I've been working, for now...coming up on four years, on a book about the modern-day fire service. After all these years, I have a huge pile of notes. And,....publishing costs are staggering (although your fine reputation in this hobby wil definitely open doors there).
I have noticed that you are coming up on 10,000 posts on the TDB. I have learned more from your posts, than the decades of research from my Corvette library. I just wanted to take a moment to give my personal thanks, for your generosity in helping. You're one of many, many, fine posters who tirelessly give up your time, in order to help those behind you, and thus enhance our hobby. A recent post about a "for hire" seminar, reminded me of how generous you are with your time, as well as,...way too many others to mention here. The readers of this thread know who those are, who help, and help, and help, without asking for compensation.
Once again, thank you very, very much. Ridge.

I completely agree with what others have said. John, you have helped me out as well in my search for information about 67s.

I know it is a lot of work, but there are few in the Corvette community that have an equal amount of knowledge to you. I'd highly encourage writing a book.

As the 'Pool" dwindles, I continue to believe that the NCRS should provide a video cam and a stack of tapes to each the GM'ers with a request to "Tell us all that you remember about back in the day"

                      Re: John Hinckley Books-Please!

The articles John road several years back about Timing were outstanding. I read them, reread them and then used them to sort out some real timing advance issues with my 66 SB. I've kept them handy for when I do a tune up. Each time CE arrives, I look for John's articles first. And when I post something on the TDB and get a reply from John, I know I have a golden response.

Thanks to John and all of the others who share their knowledge with the rest of us. You guys are the greatest.

                      Cheers

John, like I tell my boss, you talk, I'll type.

(I'm currently the publisher for the regulatory manuals here at the airline.)

                          Bruce;

Sounds a bit like my latter working days. With the advent of desktop publishing, we had to do it all; research & verify, write, request and import photographs, then do all the typing and proofing, then finally send it to the printer electronically. I missed the old days working with the girls who did all the final keylines and paste ups for us. Good chance to take a break and B.S..

Not so much changes, Stu. Methods are supposedly more modern but sometimes I wonder. People are still fun, though. I mean that sincerely.

                            Sorry for the hijack folks.

John, I have to add my thanks for all the fascinating and very helpful info you share with all of us. Truthfully, this is part of the Corvette "gig" that I had hoped it would be.
