Getting ready to replace the battery gauge on my 67. I hope to accomplish this the sneaky way, just sliding the cluster out enough to remove this gauge. I'm asking if since there are 2 wires on this gauge, is there a polarity on the gauge. Thanks for all responses, Bill #20328

Re: Battery Gauge R & R
Don't really need to move the cluster to get the panel and the two gauges out, pull the seat to give some room (I've done it with the seat in also) remove the screw holding the twin gauge packages in place, disconnect electrics and you have it. BTW disconnect the battery before trying this, and if you need to test the meter, a 1.5 volt battery momentarily connected to the terminals should give a full scale deflection. Don't admire the devlection, just touch the 1.5 volts to the meter, see it move and disconnect immediately.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Battery Gauge R & R
Bill,
You will have to reach up inside and remove three screws that hold the backing plate for the two small gauges. After first removing the wiring.
You can't put it back on wrong. They are keyed to the gauges. Slide the backing plate with the two gauges out and onto your work bench. Replace your amp gauge and reverse the process.
Piece of cake!
