Years ago I visited with a retired St.Louis plant worker who shared some of his saved documents. Clearly he was proud of his many years at the plant working on Trucks, Cars, Corvettes and War equipment.

A very proud tradition in St.Louis along with those who made Beer, shoes, jet engines and so much more.

Ok, so forgive my ignorance here, but that paper mentions producing the last passenger car in 79 and the last Corvette in 81.

Did St. Louis make something else OTHER than Corvettes during the Corvette years? If so, I never knew that.

The main plant had two completely separate lines - one for passenger cars ("B"-body Impala/Caprice), and one for trucks (light-duty pickups, medium-duty trucks and chassis, and some heavy-duty trucks); they also built all the forward-control Corvair-based truck products (Greenbrier, Rampside, etc.) up on the 4th floor. In the 60's, the main plant was the largest assembly plant in North America.
