Does anyone have info. if there was a late 1966 or 1967 strike (Teamsters???) that slowed/stopped delivery of parts to St. Louis? Especially heater boxes from Indiana. Dates, etc.?

The only Teamsters national strike that affected Corvette production was in April, 1970. The 1966 strike at St. Louis was local, for most of October; no parts were delivered during that period. Heater boxes came from Lockport, New York.- Top

Re: Teamsters Strike Slowing Corvette Parts
Thanks John!
Back in October '66 I was a line boy at Auburn Airways in Auburn, Indiana. There was a strike of some sort affecting St. Louis and myself and a couple of the instructors, Shellenberger and ?, flew Piper 140's (4 seat 64 Whiskey which was white with green trim and 2 seat 28 Whiskey which was white with red trim) day and night from Auburn to STL carrying heater boxes from a manufacturer NE of Fort Wayne. We removed all seats but the left one jumped in and the boxes, all loose, were put in behind us and on the right where the other front seat was removed. I always flew off the right wingtip of Shellenberger so I could see him and not get lost as most of my flights were at night. We kept this up for about 3 or 4 days. Once we landed a Chevy box van would unload us and we would head back north. It was great---alot of hours for free! Could the boxes have been for non-Corvettes?
'Appreciate all the knowledge!!!

Might have been an oddball truck heater box. All the high-volume passenger car, light truck, and Corvette heater boxes came from Harrison division in New York. St. Louis also built all manner of medium-duty and some heavy-duty trucks and school bus chassis - could have been for one of them.- Top
