    72 Headlight acuators

Is it better to have my originals restored or just buy new ones? Probably a dumb question, but .......
    Thanks

    Re: 72 Headlight actuators

    Hi Jeff,
Member Bob Demmel, in Texas, repairs, restores and re-plates them. I always like a restored original part. Plus, he's a really good judge and a nice guy!
    Regards,
    Alan

I spoke to him yesterday and his prices are reasonable. While I have you, what color paint is on the center grill section behind the license plate?
      Thanks for your help Alan.

The center grill is painted the same charcoal/gray argent that the grills are done in.

          Hi Jeff,
I found the texture to be a bit rougher on my center grille than on the other 2 pieces. I wondered if it was because it was dry sprayed ? Could the fact that it's not chrome plated affect how the paint finished?
          Regards,
          Alan

Alan, please look at the picture of my center grill. It looks charcoal gray, is that right? Can you send me a picture of yours? Also, where can you get the correct color grey?
            Thanks

              Re: 72 Headlight acuators

              Hi Jeff,
That grill looks very good to my eye. It seems to be the color and texture I'd expect to see.
I have some spray can paint I bought from Paragon a few years ago. It was supposed to be a match for phosphated parts like the hood latches.
Since I was able to phosphate my parts I ended up trying it for the grill and it seems very good.
Do you realize there is the 'recipe' for the original paint? Do a search.
              Regards,
              Alan
