"under body hinge storage well reinforcement" I have no idea what that is. The hinges for the lids are attached to the storage compartment surround.

Yes, in most, maybe all, early C3s the storage/battery compartments were blacked out at the same point the rest of the body black-out took place. I would hedge on early 1968s, I just don't know on those for sure since they have other black-out differences. I could have avoided typing most of this paragraph if you had told us something about the corvette you are asking about.

      Hi Bob,
The reinforcement strip on my 71 is riveted in place. It's shown in the AIM in UPC 1, Sheet B3, Item # 2 ... PLATE.
Some of the screws from the hinge itself didn't penetrate the plate and actually deformed the plate away from the underbody.
      Regards,
      Alan

Thanks for the quick responses, Terry my car is an early 68 serial # 3907. The reinforcement I am asking about in under the car and the storage compartment hinges attach to it. When I removed ot it was secured in place by pop rivets and I want to make sure that that is correct before I re-install. Bob

            Hi Bob,
            The AIM rivet part # does indicate a pop-rivet. That's what's on my 71. Sorry I wasn't clear.
            Regards,

Easy to view, my 68 is up on one of my lifts and there are three aluminum rivets to the left of the rear end and three aluminum rivets to the right that retains the metal piece to the fiberglass.
If you are asking if the surface area of the wells under the car are blacked out, my 68's are not.

                  Hi,
On my 71 there is SOME black-out on the outer sides of the compartments, it appears it's from the wheel well black-out. You can see how the frame acted as a 'mask' and protected an area of the compartment side from receiving the black paint.
                  Regards,
                  Alan

Now that I realize you guys are talking about the underbody -- I must point out that my blackout response above referred to the interior of the storage compartments. I was thinking of the interior of the car all along, and that is why I couldn't place the reinforcements you are asking about.
