      I'm sure Michael is probably right, but it does look like a door opening pull rod.

            Yes your right only 56 power top Corvette did that and the holes to mount the cover is seen on many other year Corvettes as far as 59, it would be interesting to mention a ONE only item or part used on one year Corvettes only , what does any one think of doing that???
