Can anyone help me with a power window problem. I have power going into relay but nothing coming out of it to the switch if i bypass relay jumper from 12v input to switch they work fine ??

Re: 67 power widows
I guess i didnt give enough info, i installed a new relay, and after thinking about it , when we dissasembled car the windows worked, with original relay. Neither relay do anything, so iam not sure what to make of it. As far as i know its a pretty simple circuit looking at schematic. I would find it unlikely that they are both junk.- Top

Re: 67 power widows
Check the ground to the sub frame! Even though it looks like it is attached securely, loosen it and scratch the star washer into the harness and subframe securely. When you check the circuit at the relay, you are probably successfully grounding near the relay? Is this a 30 volt relay?David Dawdy- Top

Re: 67 power widows
Can you explain how relay works. It looks like you have a ground terminal (brown) 12volt supply which goes thru the relay points and a 12v out to switch. So how does the relay points get activated i thought when 12v is applied it relay it activates points if thats the case it would be on all the time. Or what seems more likely is the switch would activate but how does switch get power ? iam confused.- Top

Re: 67 power widows
I recently wrestled with a similar problem. The pwr window sub harness has a ground wire that grounds to the birdcage subframe. Mine looked just beautiful while I wrestled with the up/down switches not doing anything. My friend kept saying check the ground, I did it looked good. Until I really firmed up the contact on the ground lead, and bingo power to the motors!

Re: 67 power widows
David here is what i found. There is a single brown wire w/connector that parallels ign. switch pigtail. Then there is a single brown wire w/ a double connector (male-female) coming off power window harness, apparently that powers up the other side of relay which then supplies power to p/w switch., and the other side of double connector is for a radio capacitor The schematics are very unclear how this is to be wired. Thanks for your input. Mike- Top

Sorry, I've been out of touch a day or so. I am looking at a 66 AIM and referring to the ground on the pwr window sub harness assy referred to on page F247, 'Window Electrical Control - Contents'. I imagine this is the same for '67. The reference is lower senter and indicates 'Ground wire to courtesy lamp bracket screw'.
When you were testing for power, you more than likely grounded to the birdcage and got a good ground. However, Isuspect that when you attempt to activate the window motors with the console switch, this bad ground is not letting your motors run. Check to make sure it is connected and getting a good contact. Sure hope this changes the complexion, from your description I do suspect a bad ground.David Dawdy- Top
