I wanted to share this with you all. I went to John Hinkley, the wizzard direct as I needed to know quickly.
My QUESTION : AN ENGINE PAD THAT I KNOW IS ORIGINAL, IS DATED F0227HG, WHICH IS A SATURDAY.
and then I asked if Flint kept building engines during the Corvette St. Louis strike in October 1964.
HERE ARE HIS ANSWERS:
Hi, Jim -
1. Yes, Flint and Tonawanda frequently worked Saturdays, and 9-hour daily shifts as well. Saturday overtime was quite common.
2. The NATIONAL strike against GM was from September 30th through October 6th; the LOCAL strike at St. Louis continued until November 6th, and didn't involve any other GM plants. Flint V-8 was only down during the national strike, so 10/15 or 10/29 engine assembly dates are legitimate,on an early Noverber 64 production car.
Regards,
John
