    4 Speed Rebuilder

    Greetings all,

I need to find a rebuilder for my 4 speed transmission. I live in Western North Carolina and I have been unable to find anyone in this area that I am comfortable with doing this work.
Hopefully someone has an idea. I am about 2 hours North of Atlanta so the Northern GA area would be a possibility also. Otherwise, any ideas on where I could ship these (I have 2) transmissions?
These are both standard, 1980 BW, 4-speed transmissions. Just looking for quality work.

    Thanks,
    David

There's a guy named Bob Bartlett who has a small shop in Batavia, Ill. that is TOP NOTCH with Muncies and BW's. He has a little outfit called 4 Gear Trans Co. I've sent him a couple of trannies and I know a couple of guys who have sent theirs to him, and they are all dead on....and he REALLY stands behind his work...If it ain't right, he'll do whatever he has to to make it right. And his prices were very reasonable. I do know he had some health issues a couple of years ago, but last I heard he's all good and back at it. The number I have for him is (630)879-8777. I'm sure shipping charges will suck, but he does high quality work and will stand behind it as well.

Ditto the comments on Bob Bartlett... He supplied a BW for my 1963 and rebuilt the Muncie for my 1965. Great work and a real stand up guy!

I've installed rebuild kits a couple of times in 4 speeds. It's not hard. You ought to try it.

Bob did the restoration on the transmission for my 1960 corvette. I shipped it to him in April and picked it up while at Bloomington Gold (about 10 miles from his house). He will ship you a crate that protects it when shipping to him. He was great to work with and did an excellent job!

              Hello,

Thanks for the replies. Bob must be the guy. I have had his web site saved for some time. I had not called due to assuming he was just selling transmission parts. His site does not mention anywhere that he is still rebuilding transmissions.
I am giving him a call today.

              Regards, David
