    1965 Corvette Jack

Hello to all and Happy New Year,

This is my first post as a new member!
I own a 1965 Corvette Coupe, Glen Green with Saddle interior with 300 hp, power steering and 47,100 original miles. The car is an early February build with the Vin # S109972. The original jack was misplaced and another purchased over the counter at a GM Dealership in 1980. This jack does not have the "A" on it, and is the bearing style! My question is which jack is correct for an early 1965? The jack with the bearing or the jack with the washers? What type? 1 or 2? I would like to find an original with the "A" if I can, the car will be judged in the future at an NCRS event,

    Thanks,

    Jim

Jim.....Welcome to the NCRS and to the TDB!

I looked in my Noland Adams Volume 2 but couldn't find any info for you.

I'm not sure if it has the details, but the 65 Judging Guide may help. It's available in the NCRS store in the C2 Library section. I see many jacks come up on ebay quite often, but what is advertised is not necessarily what it actually is. I've been looking for a 63 jack for a year, and prices are crazy. C1 jacks are even worse.

Driveline has at least two articles on the subject, Summer 83 & Winter 85.
From that source the typeII was 65 sn 12,000 and ended 65 sn 23,000 (plus/minus since these numbers are never exact) Also N Adams does have it someplace I was unable to find, but have seen it.

Jim -- by your '65 VIN #, I would say you need Type II (Roman numeral) as described in the '65 TIM&JG, as your car is not really 'early' production, which would call for the Type I [nor after VIN # 20,000, which would call for Type III].

This eBay example is what I might guess is the Type II you need [sold for $566 ], except I don't see the reinforcement ribs in the lifting arms -- this could be a totally made-up unit (it's a jungle out there)

Noland's Vol 2 compares all C2 types on pg 105, but the pic is hard to interpret.

            To all,

Thank you very much for the information, I will use it wisely since this item is an expensive proposition and I wouldn't want to make a mistake in a wrong purchase! I will enjoy this forum, thanks again!
