So I'm still procrastinating getting things back together, and you know, while I'm at it I decided to repaint the vent door handle bracket. So I took off the vent grille, flapper, etc. I look in and see this! Can't imagine someone other than a practical joker at St. Louis did it!

Probably happened at least once a day.
Back in the day, a customer brought in his new Pontiac, complaining of a door rattle. Pulled the panel off to find a Pepsi bottle with a note inside.....
Congrtulations! you finally found the rattle.

Rich, while the door is out, take a mirror and look at the bottom of the well. Make sure the drain hole is free and clear. Else, a clogged drain will collect water and rust the pillar base.

Yes.....the last photo shows a bunch of leaves(from Virginia I imagine), and other crud. I'm going to clean it out, find the drain, and likely do the right side too.

My 63 was parked outside at a Buddy's apartment in Madison, WI for about a month or so back in the early 70's, and it was under a Locust tree. To this day, even though I manually cleaned out my vents, I'm still having old Locust tree leaves come out of my heater when the blower is on. Changing the core last year and cleaning the heater ducts helped a lot, but there are still some hiding in there. Surprised how well they are preserved after some 35 years, better than in between the pages of a book!
