Re: 63 Upper Steering Wheel Bearing Confusion

Ok...... the hole in photo 1 below?

But what about that connector I have with the little round clip that was fitted over the air vent cable(photo 2 in my prior post). What's that all about?

    Thanks,
    Rich

Robert, The one I installed back in the early 80's was green also but I will look for the one that came out of the car because it could very well have been black. I guess that I thought that it matched the color of the ones that attached to the horns. Rich, my connector has that clip also and I will see if I can get a picture. My 63 is later though at about June 7 so my info might be different as you well know.

Rick, Ok, I'm wrong or confused or both. I checked on mine which was replaced in the early 80's and it has the female recepticle on the bearing side. I have enclosed a photo of it w/out the plastic connector.

          Thanks for checking Paul......

Ok, now it's making sense. Maybe the service replacements had a note in the parts book to change the male terminal on the bearing wire on certain cars.

So you have the special clip connector too. I wonder what the part# was. The AIM date for the change to using electrical tape was January.

          Thanks,
          Rich

Rich, I see you live in Florida. There are usually piles of wire and plugs at the Kissimmee Regional. That plug is not an odd size as I recall. Take a ride over to the meet.

I'll be there for sure. Wouldn't miss it.
