Im looking for a complete T.I. I was told Dave Fiedler has them for sale and is an NCRS member. Is there a way to locate him, hes not a local member. Anyone else know who has them?

Re: Transistor Ignition 1969 427/400
Jack, I spoke to dave last week about a complete system. The distributor, coil, amplifier and wiring harness. Im sure it is very nicely done but I thought the price was too high. I have a line on another set up that Im supposed to hear about soon. Ill wait and see what this guy has. I know his price is alot more reasonable.- Top

Ned;
I bought a complete system from Dave for my 1965/396. Yes he was expensive (it was like $2400) but what he provided was totally complete, totally restored and works like a charm... including the upgraded amplifier module, wiring harness and coil.

What is a upgraded amplifer?? Does Dave sell with the original componets or is this something that's best upgraded.- Top

Re: Transistor Ignition 1969 427/400
they use silicon transistors instead of germanium because the silicon takes a higher temp. there is also one out there that uses surface mount technology- Top

Re: Transistor Ignition 1969 427/400
Is it advisable to replace even if the old amp works? Other then operating in higher temperature does the new circuit board offer better switching than older transistors.
Reason I ask is the unit I have still works when I tested on the work bench. I spun the distributor with my machine and used the correct harness and even a set of cylinder heads with spark plugs and wires all grounded back to my car battery. Best way I could figure to test, just like on the car..
Sorry to hijack thread just looking for opinions.- Top

What are you providing for cores ? (your current distrib ? is it K66 or are you converting from points ?); (a '343' amp box ?); [an original T.I. coil (functioning ?) with correct embossed numbers ?] Will his restoration include an NOS distr. cap ? NOS 1115360 vac advance ? correct appearance siamesed distributor leads with faint green tracer line on one of the two ? etc....
Other than the distributor, the rest is available from the normal supply channels, or eBay, if you have the patience.
If you break down the total $, it may reveal that the bulk of the cost (say about $ 2800; more if you are sending cores) is going into the distrib., incl. his profit.- Top

Re: Transistor Ignition 1969 427/400
There are some minor advantages to the silicon based replacement amplifier modules including: (1) superior temperature profile, and (2) better over-voltage stress characteristics. But, in terms of will you see a raw ignition performance boost, I'd say no...- Top
