Me and my after market or accessory toys that I love and most people are amazed by them.
You might find this interesting and wont one. My 55 Corvette is all original having a PG but having to open the hood reach for the PG oil stick and getting burned or oil on my hands was something I dint like. So many years ago I found an after market oil eye of the 50's that you could ether connect to your engine oil or PG oil with out opening the hood to check.
I connected it to my PG because as we all know they leak and need checking now and then.
What you do is install a thin tube down the PG tube or engine oil tube connecting a rubber hose to another steel line going to the oil eye inlet and a vacuum rubber tube from the oil eye outlet to the engine Carb vacuum outlet
Now with the engine running with out opening your hood you push the button on the oil eye that lights up for night viewing and the glass eye fills with oil (in my case red PG oil) if the eye fills your oil level is OK and if not you need one quirt of oil. Why one quirt because you install the steel tube going the the PG at a level that if the oil eye don't fill your one quirt low.
Now and then I check the oil to see if it's up and also to see how clean the oil is. I just love the darn thing.
