    C2 Replacement Bumpers

    I am considering rechroming my front and rear bumpers on my 67 however with cost of re-chrome these days the "GM Restoration" Bumpers as sold by Paragon look like a viable alternative. Has anyone experience with these and is it known if they are North American produced ? I have heard of many stories with off shore reproduction bumpers that don't fit properly and simply can't be installed, I don't want to go there. Paragons cataloge seems to elude that they either produce them or have them produced with stringent quality control.

    Any opions or experience comments are appreciated.

    More often than not repo bumpers will cost a point or two. They are thinner, but not sure if any repo exist which are correct thickness.

      hi Howard i myself made this very post a couple months ago .. i was told to stear clear of either off shore or domestic replacement bumpers because of fit and the fact that they are thiner than the origionals and would be detectable in judging i sent mine out had them recromed at a cost of 180 per bumper they came back looking great . and from what i read in catalogs that is still considerably cheaper . hope this helps Don

        Hi;

        I agree with Alan... Repro bumpers (Paragon, on my 1965) look great and fit just fine. They are thinner however than stock and as I recall I lost a couple of points because of this. The judges just feel the thickness and know....

          You need to consider both fit/finish and cost. If the existing bumpers you have fit your car well, they should similarly fit well after replating. If you buy new reproduction, you are taking a chance on fitment issues. I know guys that had this problem.

          John Hinckley wrote an excellent technical article about the Paragon Reproduction Bumpers in CORVETTE ENTHUSIAST awhile back. It was in the September 2008 issue, beginning on page 66. Check it out.
