    68 Distributor Tag Question

I have a 68 427/390hp 4 speed with A/C I am restoring and distributor tag is labeled 1111477 8B12. I understand that the last 4 digits mean 8 is for 68, B is for Feb and and the 12 is the 12th of Feb, but I can not find in my information and booklets what the first seven numbers mean (1111477 ??). Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Those numbers are the part number of the distributor assembly. The 1968-69 TIM&JG will have the correct numbers for your application.

Following Terry's advice, I cracked open my old NCRS Pocket Spec Guide, and I see two'68 Corvette distrib. assemblies that are close (but no cigar). They are 1111441 and ...475, which are for 327 L79 with transistor ignition (1st design and 2nd, respectively). Those embossed tag numbers can be difficult to read, especially after hold-down clamp damage.

What do your vac advance numbers read ? Both these distrib's should show MS_201_ 15 stamped.

The 1111477 exists, is a points unit, also with a '201' vac adv., but I don't know the application.

      An L36 big block should have a 1111293 (points) or 1111294 (T.I.)

        Re: 68 Distributor Tag Question

Jeffrey, the 1111477 distributor part number is correct for late 1968's with the 327/ 350hp engine- not the BB engine.
