    61 U S Royal Tire question

    My 61 has its original spare, never used. It is a US Royal Safety 800. I am positive this is the original non dot spare as I know the previous 2 owners. I purchased Repros to match for the car then I read the list of tires in the judging manual. It says US Royal Tires should be "AIR Ride". I see no reference on the tires to this. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

    My 63 has the original spare still in the tub and it has never been used. As I am the original owner of the car, I can vouch that it is new. It is a U.S. Royal Safety 800 also (some 2 years later ?).

      Thanks Stu. I hope I can verify it was used in 61. I guess the origianl owner who is elderly could have replaced it some years ago but he says not!

        Bob,

        I still have the original spare tire in my June built 1962 that I have owned since April 1965 when the car was in mint condition with 28k original miles. The spare is a US Royal Safety 800, for whatever that's worth to you.

          Thanks for the info Larry. Hopefully a judge will let me know about the 61. The judging manual does cover 62's also so I hope a judge comments on this. I'm sure it has come up before.

                Roy;

                Is that a U.S. Royal Safety 800? Reason I ask is I don't think mine has the size embossed on the tread like that, but It's been so long since I looked at it. Am I going to have to drop mine now out of curiosity? Probably so, but not until after my dental appointment this morning.
