    C1 Heat Riser Valve

Will this assembly pass judging on a 1960 245HP ?

The numbers on the weight are 3746844 while the AIM says the part number is 3746838.

The JM's only reference to this valve is that the FI needs a spacer instead of the valve.

Anyone know what car used the assembly I have ?

If my butterfly is 2" long by 1 3/4 wide then do I have a 2" valve ? There are other posts that say the 3746844 part number is in the AIM for a C2.

    Mark -

3746844 doesn't appear in ANY Assembly Manuals - it may just be the casting number for the weight itself, and 3746838 is the PART number for the complete assembly.

Joe - so are you confirming what John said ? This means I have the right heat riser ?

        Thanks,

        Mark

Mark, sorry am not familiar with '60 heat riser valves. If it's like 58 it should have "UP" in raised cast on the top side. Also, recommend starting a thread looking for a Bowtie '60 to compare with. Good luck. JMTCW, Gary....

Yes, I'm agreeing with what John mentioned. I don't know if the heat riser you have is correct with respect to every nuance of detail. However, the casting number you mentioned is usually seen on the counterweight of the correct heat riser valve.

              Re: C1 Heat Riser Valve

Mark, per the P&A's correct no. for 58-62 is 3746838 Group 3.647 Valve Assembly, Space Shaft, Washer, Weight Exhaust Manifold. So your heat riser should say "UP" on the top side to be correct. Don't know about the weight physical configuration. In the 67 P&A it lists a cast # for the weight, but not in the 60 to 62 P&A's. You might want to e-mail Tim Mickey the 58-60 Team Leader a photo. Gary....

                Re: C1 Heat Riser Valve

I have my '61 Heat Riser Valve on the bench for some repairs and it has the same number on the weight.

                Regards,

                Dennis
