Re: 1963 corvette instrument cluster screws
Yes, the AIM was put into a database. You can search it by part number or a short description.
You need Microsoft Access S/W and a copy of the data. I have it for a 63. When you get a hit on a part number it gives the number of hits in the AIM and the AIM page number. Easy to use.

What does it show for the 9419300 screw for the later 63 inst housing? Bet it's only used for that one location.- Top

Re: 1963 corvette instrument cluster screws
It shows: Page 196, section 12, sheet B8.00, item 3, quantity 5, 30 - 50 lbs torque, instrument cluster and clock.
Since there are only 5, I think the clock reference is just a typo.

Tim, send me an email with your email address. I tried to send it via this system but it just jumbles the text due to the charts.
Do you have Microsoft Access?, if yes, I'll send you the database.

Re: 1963 corvette instrument cluster screws
The fastener database I have says the 9419300 screw was black phosphate but your right Michael they appear brown and it's not rust because the entire screw is brown. I wonder if the black plating just turned brown over the years? Maybe a plating expert could explain if that's possible.Attached Files- Top

It's probably some form of light plating but I have no idea what.
I was a bit surprised when I saw black screws instead of brown on a friends early 63 coupe a few years later. I later learned that all early prod 63's used a different screw and it was indeed black plated instead of brown.
That was 45 years ago and I'm still learning things about these cars.Last edited by Michael H.; January 6, 2009, 01:57 PM.- Top

Re: 1963 corvette instrument cluster screws
I can't find where this 9418514 sheet metal screw is used anywhere else on the car and I only have four (need one). The U nut is used in many places so that is easy to identify. Is this screw a oddball size or hardware store variety??- Top
