C-2 67 Radio speaker wiring

I tried to look in the archives, but it doesn't work like it used to so here goes...
I have a 67 AM/FM radio to install in the car and all seems well but the speaker wires from the radio to the connector. There is a green wire that terminates on the back of the radio in the middle of a large heat sink and seems to be a ground, the balck and green wire terminates near the radio power harness and also seems like a ground??? I did a ohm check and have about 185ohms betwen the green wire and the green/black wire. This is the same as from green to anywhere else on the chassis. Is this right??? I can't seem to find a radio wiring diagram either... Thanks in advance for the help!!!

After posting the "similar posts" list came up and sure enough, the same exact question was there and what I have sounds like what is supposed to be there... Hhhmmmm. I guess I'll try it tomorrow Happy New Year!!!

It's correct Jim. The green wire is connected to the black heatsink (thing with fins and a big round silver DS-501 transistor in it). The heatsink is insulated from the case by a brown piece of stiff paper like material. And, the black wire is indeed the speaker ground return to the radio chassis.

If you plug the speaker in (or just wire it to the green and black wires), the ohm meter reading will drop to a couple of ohms. That's due to the speaker voice coil and choke coil (transformer looking device) attached to the frame of the speaker. Just be sure you have a speaker with that transformer like device attached before firing it up.

If all is well (and you don't have one of those after market type speakers with the almost dead short choke coils on it), your voltmeter will read very close to 1.5 volts DC across the green and black wires with power applied.

Then all you'll need to do is find an appropriate oldies stations.

Well I now have a working original am/fm radio in my car, it actually sounds good (with the new speaker I bought for the 61). Now for the heater...

Got the radio in and working and got the heater blower to finally blow again, it was the ground at the motor, so for the moment, I have a dedicated ground untill I can figure it out... more to come

Jim -

There's a ground circuit in the starter harness bundle - the top end pigtails to the heater blower ground and the wiper motor ground, and the bottom end has a large ring terminal that goes under the outboard starter-to-block bolt.
