Follow this link Terry and then look for the "Installation instructions: click here" icon. It's a greasy job but you may want to do it yourself right there at the rear of the vehicle. Then you won't have to remove yards of lead-in cable. http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...5&dept_id=1425
In lieu of that, and not wishing to keep your antenna 'stock', there are several replacement antennas available. Just search the usual vette catalogs.
The one on my Pace Car failed years ago and I just repaired the worn notches in the 'push/pull cable'. Don't bother with that as it will only last a year or two and the memory of the experience will last forever!
If you want someone else to do it, drop me an email and I'll give you two or three names of guys who can help.
BTW, if you have the CB version of the antenna, life gets more interesting due to the need for the loading coil (the small gray plastic tube) in the top section. I may be able to help with that situation. Not using the coil could cause the RF output transistor in the CB transmit section to fail.
Hope that helps a bit...- Top
