Can anyone make a good recommendation of where I can buy a good quality, simple to use, one man brake bleeder system for when I'm ready to bleed the brakes on the freshly restored 58' ? I know how to do it the old fashioned way but I would like to find an easier, cleaner way of doing this. Thanks

Re: Brake Bleeders
I say it's best to share the experience with another corvette guy or loved family member. I just did it by myself since my wife is disabled, but she really enjoys the rides with her hair blowing in the wind, like when we were dating in college and sold our last 62 for $2500 before we got married. Close all the bleed valves and keep filling the reservoir with fresh fluid while having a friend/spouse pump the brakes starting with the rear cylinders.I used DOT-5 and worked my way all around the car. Then while still on jack stands look for leaks. Use a clear hose into a milk jug. Do not pump the brakes with the drums off for various reasons. I then took all four drums off one-by-one and kept tightening up the star-wheel until you get some good drag then back off seven clicks. It's much easier with the drums off. Keep filling up and pumping, you should get good pedal pretty quick. Take it for a test drive in a safe manor, then tweak it if necessary. Worked for me! Have a wonderful New Year and enjoy that car. I plan to. God Bless all the coalition troops and let them return home safely. Why not tak a "vet" for a spin if you know one and tell them thank you! John- Top

#0105 includes the pressure bleeder and the master cylinder adapter for 1967-82 Corvettes. For your 58, I'm not sure which adapter is required. You'd need to call them unless someone here knows. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Brake Bleeders
I put Speedbleeders on my '63 and they are great. Working alone, I change out the brake fluid every few years and the whole process takes less than 30-minutes.- Top

http://www.speedbleeder.com/ I also ordered their bag and hose and it makes the job, what used to always end up being a mess, clean and neat.- Top

Re: Brake Bleeders
A basic dummy question please.
On stock bleeders, when they're loosened, why does the fluid come through the valve rather than around the bleeder threads?
Happy New Year!

Re: Brake Bleeders
It's the path of least resistance Alan. The bleeder valve is plugged when seated and provides a good path through the bleeder when loosened. If the bleeder valve had an obstruction (dirt) in the opening, then the threads would actually bleed the fluid. Happy New Year, Mike- Top
