Hi all,
Trying to determine the correct bolt used to mount the fan shroud to the radiator support on 1966-1967 427 cars ( I am assuming that the same bolt was used on sb cars, I know the original j-nuts were) . Hopefully someone can describe it or even better post a pic on the board. I do not trust to be accurate what is supplied by any of the vendors.
I think the correct originals were a tapered point with a captive washer, black phospated. Similar to a seat mount or small lower spash shield or hood latch reciever on firewall bolt. I am also concerned with is it the same bolt used on an air conditioned car? Is it the same bolt used to retain the A/C fan shroud extension ? Current repo bolts I see are the "WB" style silver finish bolts with a separate flat waser, like whats found on a top alternator adjusting bolt.
I do not trust the Assembly manual either, what was planned to use and what was actually used, especially in an area such as this do not always match. So I hope I can get some ID help from known "unrestored" cars.
Thanks in advance!
