    71 Coupe Body Weight ?

Can someone give me the weight of the 71 Coupe Body? I'm trying to figure what I will need to lift it from frame. I have Nolands book and video on body lift, I don't have a good idea on what amount of weight I am dealing with. I will remove the seats and most of the interior before lift. Also would you leave in the rear window or remove it before lift?
    Thanks!

striped out body is about 600#. you can lift it with an engine lift no problem, using 4 straps or chains to the lift hook. One person can balance it easy as another pumps it up.

Thanks Gene for the quick responce. Should I leave the tops in and the rear window to make the body more solid? Or remove them to cut down on the weight?

I did a lift on my 65 and removed all glass to prevent breaking

John, I would remove everything I could to reduce the weight. I also have used a two ton engine hoist to remove the body. The best thing that I have used, if you have a floor lift available, is to use the lift to raise the body and then roll the chassis out from under it.

Thanks Guys! I have a better idea of what I'm getting into regarding weight. I'll figure something out, hopefully I won't kill myself doing it.

I removed glass (needed to be replaced) the straps attach at the kick panel #2 body mount spots and seat belt harness attachment points over rear wheels. Of course it would be impossible to run front straps in this manner is the windshield is in place. But if you want to leave the glass in use the forward mounts at the firewall.

You can use straps on the pinchwelds at the rocker area. Also you can fabricate plates, with hooks, that bolt on to the hood latches, and plates that screw in where the door strikers are.

I roughed in my 73 coupe with doors, glass, seats at about 800 lbs.

I had a convertible and left the glass in and the doors on. Had no problem with lifting with 6 guys. It is important to have good supports to set the body on to distribute the weight evenly.
