    Seems as if we have differing opinions on this but we all agree that the sequence started at 001 and ended at 999 and then repeated itself. We also agree that the sequence number was on the build sheet. AND on all major components such as doors, body, etc. etc.

    That's all that matters anyway, isn't it?????

      YOU ARE SO CORRECT JOE. Why are we getting our undies bunched ? The question was about the 288 BUILT number, and I think we all answered it. John Hinkley definately did. End of question. Interesting thought how times changed over the years.

        I thought the numbers ran 1 through 500 but I'm old now and probably forgetting a lot.

        By the way, that same "job number" appears on the frame and engine as well. That was the number that tied all of those major components together.

        No one in the plant ever refered to a car by the VIN. They didn't even refer to the car as a car or a chassis as a chassis. It was called "a job".
