    Underbody retainer plates

    Hello All- my first post.
Were the underbody retainers for the seats, trunk hinges, seat belts etc. originally raw steel, plated or painted when riveted on??
    Thanks, Mike

    Michael,

I think the answer to your question depends on what year you're talking about. Some of the mid-year cars had plates treated with zinc dichromate or black paint depending if the body was AO Smith of St. Louis. I still don't know if any plate were natural for '66.

Gary- thanks for your reply. My car is an early 61.
