    Vacuum Emission hose data conflict

    Hi Folks,

I've got 3 guides to work from; the assembly manual, the shop manual and the judging guide. Then I have my notes, tags, and photo's which are helping but are not in agreement with with all the guides which are actually incomplete (no slight meant to the judging manual because this has been a fantastic reference).

To give an example, the assm and shop manual only show 2 distinct coloured vacuum lines off the EFE and EGR switches but not the corresponding colour on the switch. The judging manual as an example, suggests the vacuum hose connecting the pipes from the intake maniold to the carb are without a stripe, but my photo's and tags suggest they are with a white stripe. I'm assuming the thicker orange hose that was part of the CC kit is meant for the transmission at the modulator end. (And nothing is cut down to 1" as the judging manual suggests, but that does match what I see that came off the carb).

Is there a singular definitive guide for the emissions vacuum lines on a 77, Canadian car, no AIR or diverters. I'm hesitant to start cutting lines since the kit looks like it should be pre-cut, but I guess that's what will need to be done. There is also one line in the kit with a broadcast code of 0718 and I have no reference for that.

Thanks for the help as always.

The short answer..no! Probably the best source for the 77 model year is your AIM which you referenced. The 75-77 hasn't been updated in years so its not surprising some sections are dated. Now, the 78-79 tech guide has an emission hose reference chart that records emission hose colors but than the AIM has several references to emission hoses.

The topic would be a good article for the Restorer and there are other 77 owners with low-mileage original Corvettes that probably would serve as a great resource

      Hi Tom,

I guess it's fair to say then, I'm best off using the photo references and tagged hoses and cut to the original length I've found. I'll repost with what I've got so other can make use of the data (glad I didn't throw anything out yet).

      Cheers.

Feel free to run any questions by me...I'm quite familiar with 78 with isn't too far from 77 configurations.
