    c3 dash pad removal

I thought I remembered seeing posts for this in the past but I can't find anything so I'll ask.

I plan to change the dash wiring harness on my 1969 convertible. I can't find anywhere that has step-by-step instructions for removing the dash pad. I think I remember that there is some trick for getting the headlight switch out. I've looked through my manuals and searched the archives.

Does anything like this exist or should I just start taking things out. Thanks.

    William,
I responded to a question from Don Walker titled "69 Headlight switch replacement' a few weeks ago. You can search the archives for the thread and hopefully it will help you out. Its really a pretty simple job. Good luck with it.

      William,

Removing the upper dash pad needs to be done with tender loving care. With the winshield still in place, it is much more difficult to remove without damaging it. The pad must have both ends brought in, while the middle is bowed up a bit in order to remove it. This often results in the upper pad cracking, especially if its the original from some 39 years ago. That vinyl is very brittle. Be very careful.
