Re: 72 Front Grilles- Refinishing
Ed. if you're thinking about the eighth inch or so margin around the parking light lens, it is indeed black, at least on my car, anyway. I recall reading in a recent post that a fade-out at the bottom is correct. BTW, the "egg crate" flats are to be argent grey, as are the aligning flat sections of each bumperette. I believe there was a similar post a few weeks ago on this subject. Hope this helps.Last edited by Don L.; December 23, 2008, 07:48 PM.Don Lowe

Re: 72 Front Grilles- Refinishing
Hi Edward and Don,
I've always been a little unsure about the transition from black to gray on the grills. On my 71, the 'race track' around the lens is black. It changes to gray about 1" from it's bottom and level/even with the lowest horizontal chrome line of the egg crate portion of the grill.
Is that where yours appear to change from black to gray? Thanks very much.
Merry Christmas!

Re: 72 Front Grilles- Refinishing
On my '72, the left side transitions from black to gray, just as and where you said, Alan. The right side, however, is a little higher than the lowest horizontal egg crate bar. It's more like 1/8" above the bar. I s'pose "good enough" was good enough, eh? How 'bout others'?Don Lowe
