I have a friend with thee original 1986 Corvette pace car. It might be for sale soon. Can someone tell me if either the '95 or '98 Corvette pace cars have sold and for how much?

Re: C4 & 5 pace cars
Warren,
Which of "the original" 1986 Pace Cars might he own? I thought that "the original" as in the one used on that day and used the most was/is owned by GM. I even believe that I've seen it before as well as the 78, 95 and 98 cars owned by Chevrolet (likely at the Museum last year?).
I also know that they have more than 1 prepared for duty (often 3) so is it one of those 3?

Re: C4 & 5 pace cars
So GM must own one of the other two.
I would suggest that he has a rare item there - but you knew that.
Any pictures?

Re: C4 & 5 pace cars
I was under the impression that "none" of the real pace cars were ever sold - including the 2005. I would suggest that if it had, it would have brought more than 40K.
I am always the skeptic, but was under the impression that those who drive the Pace Car as well as the race winner get one of the replicas - not "the real deal." It would be interesting to see what documentation connects the 86 to the event and what its role was. Not to doubt Chuck, but it was 22+ years ago and he's not getting any younger.

Re: C4 & 5 pace cars
I have no previous sale information but the value of the car hinges on the documentation. Does your friend have proof that the car is the original pace car? It should be verifiable through the Indy photo archive/ historian. Tom- Top
