    C3 on jack stands question

I was told that it was a good idea to release the hood and door latches when putting the car on a lift or on jack stands. This was because the cars "flex" when raising them resulting in unnecesary stress on the fiberglass.
My car is a '72 big block and flexing is easily visible due to the extra weight.

Is there a way to support the front end after it has been put up to prevent this?

Just put an extra set of stands under the front, near the sway bar area. How long will the car be supported on stands.

Not a bad idea to crack the doors.

I am aware of the idea of jack stands in the front. My concern is will I be putting too much stress on the front if they are a little higher than they need to be. One of my thoughs was to simply put a bottle jack under the cross member, but how much should I lift?

During the winter months I like to leave it up for as lonag as a project lasts. Could be weeks.

Using a jack or jack stand on the front cross member without something to spread the weight will result in the often-seen dents in the front cross member. Use caution to prevent these dents -- they are far easier to prevent than to remove.

When using a small scissor lift do you have the same sagging concerns?
