I am in the process of restoring a 63 SWC and just recently noticed that the parking brake hand lever is from a 64. The car was built July 1, 1963 so I thought it may have a 64 unit because it is a fairly late 63. All of the cables and brackets on the frame were 63. The parking brake dash assembly had the pully wheel on the firewall. I believe someone has changed it in the past, since there was no upper cable attached when I removed it. Would you agree with this or are there some 63's out there with 64 assemblys....Thanks Mike

Re: 63 parking brake question
I am not aware of 64 units being present on 63's. Not to say it didn't happen, but not as far as I know. Hopefully someone smarter than me can confirm.Tom Hendricks

Re: 63 parking brake question
Interesting question. My '63 was built during the first week of July and has '64 hand brake as well. Not sure if it really came that way or not. I have looked at other '63's and find none that have '64 hand brake, but have never found one built the same week as mine.- Top

Re: 63 parking brake question
The 64 AIM has handle listed as pn 3842932, sec 5 sheet C1.00, with a release date of 6/5/63.
What does your 63AIM sheet show for dates and changes?
It would appear that after 6/5/63 the newer handle (64) could have existed.
Somebody may know more about the pn - if it existed in June 63- Top

Re: 63 parking brake question
Hi Steven, Does your parking brake actually work? Do you know if it has the 63 cables going to the rear brakes? On the 63 I am restoring, everything is pure 63 from the firewall back. I don't know how the cable would hook up to the handle. Thanks..Mike- Top
