    1966 rocker panel restoration

My rocker panels need tobe replaced or restored. I ordered a pair from Long Island corvette supply and the quality was very poor.

Does anyone sell quality reproductions or restore them?

I guess I was fairly lucky, my "66" rockers werenot to knicked up,
oh they had a scratch and gouge or two.But after reading about the latest repo's sorrow I decided to try a buffer professional.
    (Sorry don't want to ruffle
any feathers) I am happy to say I am very pleased with the results.
they are a tad brighter than before, hope the NCRS guys like them tooo.

Rod, it seems all of the reproduction rocker moldings are from the same source. I am no expert but discovered this when trying to replace them on my 66. The gentleman at LIC even stated they were imported and not perfect by any means (I appreciated his candor). I looked a few other vendor's and they looked the same.

I ended up getting a NOS set on e-bay and can tell you there is a world of difference from my repro set. I still see originals available from time to time and suggest you be patient and find a decent set. Best wishes...

        Rod,
Give Richard Fortier a call at 810-750-1472. He restored my original 66's, and did a very good job. Not inexpensive though.
        Regards,
        Dave

          I would second Curt's comments.
For my 1967, I looked at every known vendro's repos, and compared NOS sets on a popular auction site, sometimes called ePay.
I purchased a NOS set still in GM wrappers. In side by side comparison, they are 100% identicle to my originals. Finish, bends, exact length, and every other aspect are identical.
I would recommend some patience, and possibly a quick comparison of NOS to original, for your year. If you find NOS to be closer to the originals, go for NOS. Ridge

I finally found a local shop to redo the andozing and another local shop to redo the black paint. I will call Mr Fortier too.

            Thanks for the responses, Rod
