C2 Door Hinge Reinforcements Loose - Rivets?

I have noticed on several C2 corvettes that the door hinge reinforcement plate at the front of the door is loose. It appears that the rivets have loosened over time and allow the plate/door to move around.

How can you fix these rivets to tighten up the door hinge mounting?

    Thanks!

    Carr -

It's extremely difficult to re-peen or replace those rivets due to lack of access to "buck" them. A better solution is to replace them with 1/4"-20 projection weld studs and nuts (McMaster-Carr, Grainger, etc.) and machine the heads flat so they look just like the original flat-head rivet when installed and painted.

Hey John that's my kitchen floor!

Seriously, I had a box of them machined last summer and still have a bunch left. Send a email or private message if you are interested.

Thanks to Mike McKenzie for passing this along.

Carr, I got some from Mark a couple years ago at Carlisle. They are shaved down to the correct thickness and are easy to install. Use some lock tight on the threads and paint the heads body color after there installed. The rivets were installed before the door skins were put on and as John said very hard to buck them..
