I'm fascinated by your failure to include phrasing that begins "except" in your original answer; in my initial response, I acknowledged that I had blissfully installed the draincock supplied without checking my available information - a copy of the radiator blueprint. Did you not believe that I had the blueprint - or that I did not have parts books? My curiosity is deeper than that, because I am informed that you are significantly involved with the 56-7 manual revision........

Loren, just trying to provide Jerry the info from the '61 P&A book and missed including the exception that's all. Usually, the most info about a previous year model is in the next year model P&A. In this case it was in the '62 P&A rather than the '61. Happy New Year to you! Gary....

Actually top tanks could be both ways. The first one 3147516 used on 1960 models had the petcock and hose. Then the print was changed to add the three piece (stem, coupling, & petcock) assembly. The part number was also changed to 3151116

Even though the print for 3151116 was released 6/14/60, there is one HUGE difference; the print for 3147516 is titled "1960 Chevrolet 'Corvette'
(High performance)" and the print for 3151116 is titled "1961 Chevrolet Corvette".

Do not get carried away with "Released" dates; that could be a release date for the customer's approval, a release for "tool design orders "etc. As an example, the 3150916 version (minus the top tank and back to the expansion tank) shows a "release for production" of 6-10-60.....I don't hear ANYONE claiming that this was used in the 1960 model year.

To quote from Harrison's ltr to Paul Erdman dtd 29 Mar 94"...it is easy to see that the 3150916 part number COULD NOT have been used for ALL 1961 Corvettes based on the production release date of 6-10-60. IT TYPICALLY TAKES AT LEAST 3 - 4 MONTHS FROM DRAWING RELEASE to start of production.

I do not believe that there was any chance of the 61-2 draincock being used in 1960; the coupling of 1960 with the 61-2 in the '62 parts book is a CLASSIC example of the General's "This will fit the hole and perform the function.".
