    1965 Gauge Cluster info

Does anyone know what redline a "LA" code is? You know the red letter sticker on back of the cluster It is for a 65.

    Thanks

Base (250hp) or 300hp (L75 engine); 5300 yellow line tach, 5500 red, 60 lb oil gage as well as standard speedo/odo and the other 3 small gages.

LB was solid lifter engines (6500 rpm redline; yellow starts at 6300 rpm) with 80 lb oil gages. L76, L78, L84.

LC was for the new L79 6000 redline if memory serves; NCRS '65 TIM&JG claims 60 lb oil but my first car (04835) had an 80 lb -- photographic proof, taken in April 1968.

I don't recall the tag on the back of the cluster but my 65 number 43xx has an 80 pound gauge and from all evidence it's real. The old old NCRS manual used to refer to the 80 pound gauge as possible production build. For some reason unbe known to me it's not there in the newer manuals.......

Thanks for reporting, Gene. Here's the pic I dug out from April 1968 of my '65 L79 VIN 04835 with 32,600 miles on the clock. Note 6000 redline w/80 lb oil gage.
