Will Corvette survive?

Since I live over the ocean we don't have a real good feeling what is currently happening on a day to day basis in regard to GM and what this means for the Corvette brand. Is there new specificly to the Corvette brrand to be mentioned then I would like to know. It takes to much time to scan the 100+ postings in the previous thread on the big 3 status so could we use this thread to limit the off-topic discussion on the consequences of the current crises for our beloved Vette brand?

It will depend a lot on what form a "restructured" GM might take, whether or not Corvette is affected. If the loans go through and somehow GM can "fix" itself and continue business, then Corvette's survival would likely depend on the business case that can be made about its value to the company (it's always been about forward-thinking design and features and represents somewhat of a technology "showcase" for GM). On the other hand, I would suspect that all-out bankruptcy (managed or otherwise), might lead to its demise as a non-"core" aspect of the company. Another possibility would see it sold as a separate vehicle line.

I also think that it is to early to tell, but it is not looking good for corvette as a GM product. Maybe we could all get together and buy it from GM. I believe that it could survive as a stand alone car company.

We are definitely experiencing uncertain times and IMHO the fate of the Corvette is surely up in the air. We can all maintain hope for a return to stability and the continued development of the Corvette, a true American icon and world class sportscar.
