Recent Corvette Central eBay posting for these bolts ('L' headmark, captured lock washer; 12 external teeth) got me to looking at a partial set that I acquired (also off eBay).

The '65 TIM&JG doesn't get into detail about these bolts; the '65 AIM (UPC L78) shows a separate washer.
I only got 5 bolts (of the type shown on left) along with 7 barrels; I found two more 'ELH's in my "stash", but noticed that there are only two rings around the letters, instead of 4 rings on the ones that came with the eBay barrels. Also there are 8 teeth on the left bolt and 11 on my 2-ring example.
About the barrels: they correspond to # 3871266 (see Noland's Vol 2, pg 285) except they are not zinc plated. [I stripped the black paint off part of one [see pic foreground] and it appears plain carbon steel underneath]. The barrels appear to have been dipped (not brushed or sprayed). I'm guessing they might be '65-6 BB passenger -- although the P&A catalogs don't differentiate from Corvette. One other difference is the slot on the tab that secures the barrel to the cylinder head. Noland's GM dwg. shows a hole on the '266' barrel. Another (earlier ?) barrel dwg # 3868828; Noland, same pg. (a 2_1/2" long barrel as opposed to 3.0" for the '266') shows the slot.
So what do judges look for ? (headmark; washer]. On the barrel (slot tab or hole tab) [let's leave the barrel finish for another time
