    1974 L82 Q-jet oem #'s needing help

Hello everyone, needing help . I have a Rochester Q-jet carb with the 2.50 inch diameter dual exhaust system, for my 74 L82, I understand the numbers go like this 70 YYEDT TO 170YYEDT, 70 Rochester carb started w/ 70 before 1976 or 170 after. (No problem so far) the code for my car states 17054921. Either I have good news or bad, I either have a extremely rare carb, or the numbers tell me it is a carb from a 76 + hence the (170)., the second two digits (54) shows nowhere in the rochster web site example 70-40,71-41,72-42,73-43,74-44,75-45,76-56 the year they started with the (170)prefix. That is were I am having a problem. Second my car shows under the options code as , I- 26, nowhere is that listed either.
Thanks for your help in advance,
    Michael

The 705 suggests to me it is a carb from a 75'. The correct carb for your car depending auto or manual trans. should start out as a 704 part number.

'74 carbs for 250 hp engine were as follows:
      7044210 with auto trans,
7044211 with MT, the above are 49 state carbs,

      For California
      7044506 for automatic,
      7044507 with automatic.

Date coding is covered in the Technical manual and judging guide, available from the NCRS Store.

I do have a 4 speed which coincides with the last digit (1),I went to recarbco.com / rochester for additional info, they state the same for the proper number, should be (44), but does not list 17054921 any where on the site.

Not sure what it matters, it is not an original carburetor for a 1974 Corvette. It is a service replacement at best.

Bill, I found on Carb ca.com that the float # which is close to mine showed in the 1972 350 with the 17054 # google rochester carb, third or fourth down is a web site called carbca.com, then enter chevy the year1974.

According to the 1983 Rochester/AC-Delco Sales catalog, your carburetor is a service replacement carb for the engine in your car (and also Hi-Perf Camaro) Service number is 24-3123. The designation is for a NEW carb rather than a rebuilt version.

                    Re: 1974 L82 I26

The I- 26 is located after chevrolet on the Trim Tag located on the drivers side door jam.

That's not an option code, it's the date the trim tag was attached to the body. I= April, 26= 26th day of the month.

The completed car rolled off the assembly line 1-2 days later.

                        MIKE-

Well the carb number on my 74 L-48 with a THM 400 trans is stamped; 7044206 with a broadcast code of; FB. According to the 1973-1974 TIM & JG is correct for this application. For a L-82 with a THM 400 trans you should have a 7044210 with a broadcast code of; FC. It will vary from there depending on if it's a L-82 4-spd. or CA. delivered car. Hope this helps.

Marty Much thanks , I found out that my carb was a service replacement, that apparently was still under factory warranty. It is a L82 4speed conv w/ factory AC, not many left
