    1971 TCS/CEC Victory

If any of you have tried to understand, trouble shoot and fix a 71 TCS/CEC system you will know what a complicated thing it is. They are a one year wonder. To get it to work as intended is a true accomplishment.

I'd like to pass on special thanks to Jack Humphrey for taking the time to write his article about understanding and trouble shooting these systems so people like me can fix them. Without his effort it would be near impossible to fix one of these.

After lots of checking - testing etc. I discovered that my Reversing Relay was defective. I am fairly familiar with these but I had never tried to fix a THM equiped car. Now I get the proper speed ups in reverse. All is well that ends well.

        Re: 1971 TCS/CEC Victory

The article was published in a past issue of the Rocky Mtn Chapter newsletter (all are archived at our chapter's web site and are free for any/all to pull/print/read). It was submitted to Restorer Magazine at the same time but was apparently not deemed "interest-worthy" for publication...

Since, our new editor, Vinnie Peters, has sifted through the dust of his predecessor's files, found my article and decided to publish it. Vinnie also went to the 'wall' finding an original copy of the 'missing' page in GM's engine compartment wiring diagrams for 1971 that I cite in my article came from a dealer service bulletin which corrects the incorrect information ALL 1971 Chevrolet owners have in terms of the CEC system.

Vinnie contacted me regarding his 'find' and he's had the original, corrected, wiring diagram professionally scanned to include with the publication of my article in Restorer.

I don't know when Vinnie intends to run the article, but it might be rather soon...so stand by boys & girls with '71 cars!

          Hi Jack,
I'm glad your article will be published. Thank you for the effort in putting it together.
Vinnie certainly is doing a great job. He's a pleasure to deal with and the magazine he puts together is something to look forward to with anticipation.
          Regards,
          Alan
