Jim,
Are you fortunate enough to have the waranty Protect O Plate?
That is the font used on the certification label. If so you can use it
with some carbon paper and do a rub. Other wise you may have to pay someone, there are members here who will post some links, I am sure.

Re: Need info on MFD blue sticker in door jamb
Come on guys -- It depends on when in 1972 MODEL YEAR the car was built. Most 1972 Corvettes built in calendar year 1971 had NO weight designation and used the PoP for the imprint on the blue certification label. Those 1972 Corvettes built in calendar year 1972 had the weight designation and thus did NOT use the PoP.
If anyone knows someone who can do a half way decent job of forging the blue label you should tell everyone. Some of the labels I have seen look pretty bad. I only know of one halfway decent source, and last I heard he is out of the business.Terry- Top

Terry, if you recall we had a discussion a few months ago about this, and where I got one that looks pretty good, and which judged well:

No, Pat I didn't remember that conversation -- but I will stand by what I said in my posts there. I should have gone to look at your label in St. Charles. As someone in that thread said, it goes to show what craftsmanship will do.
Just a note -- not ALL blue labels had the printing of the lower line on the PoP. They actually got many of them properly aligned in the machine.Terry- Top

IBM is close, but I bought ???? that had a closer match. I hate this NCRS (Never Can Remember S**t disease). I will go to the office in the next day or so and see what typewriter and font I have.Dick Whittington- Top

Yes they are different. My '71 used the PoP plate and it's font. '72's went from the same to the weight ++ type cert label as stated eariler in this thread. If yours got mangled during the repaint, I can let you know where to get a realistic copy.
Then, we are back to the font question on the '72's!
