For judging, the NCRS allows glass to be one year older than the car, so in terms of judging I think you are fine. The leeway probably means that some cars originally came with glass one year older than the car.

Good point Gary. I re-read the page 56 and now see that that is clearly stated in the last sentence of the general introduction to the Side Glass and Trim section. Thanks for pointing that one out to me. That makes two good references to gain a point or two back next time around.

My driver side vent window is weird also. It is a JZ ( I double checked ) May of 67 on a March 30th build car. Delivered April 13th as per POP. Dale

        Dale,

Is it possible that the "J" is an "I" which would make it April and correct???

If I was judging that glass, I'd say to my teamate see that's why they give glass a 1 year window on the date.

For another data point, the passenger vent window date on my January 11, 1967 coupe is also out of sync with the other glass:

              Windshield:
              Rear Glass:

Driver door window: Soft-Ray, Safety FLO - LITE, dated "GZ" = April 1967
(Replacement glass from sometime prior to previous owner [1972-1976], April 1967 was
first month of usage for Safety FLO - LITE according to Colvin's "Corvette by the Numbers", p. 554-555).
              Driver vent window:
              Soft-Ray, Safety Plate, "VA" = December 1966

Passenger door window: Soft-Ray, Safety Plate, "VA" = December 1966
Passenger vent window: Soft-Ray, Safety Plate, "YA" (October 1966)

Looks like Scott posted another car with a way out of sync passenger side vent window date. Interesting that this same piece of glass keeps coming up so much out of sync with the rest????

No worries at all. I think it's fun to post about things like this. Odd little trends that are noticed in the assembly of the cars.
