    Resto tip

rebuilt my 57 heater control valve but it still leaked so bit the bullet and bought the repo that CC offers. the tip is: don't think about installing the rrepo without dressing the two nipples of the valve. the repo's valve main body is a bronze casting and the two nipples have the rough sand cast surface texture. without dressing them(with files and emory cloth), you'll have antifreeze on your carpets.mike

Why do many repro's have a problem being correct

Because it's much easier and more cost effective to make them incorrect! And they still fit the hole!

Mike, I replaced my original valve in '65 with a new GM valve, but I still have my original valve. What is entailed in rebuilding it?

        Thanks!

think i got the rebuild kit from Danckeck, the tri-5 chevy dealer in so calif. maybe paragon or CC have the seals. disassembly of the valve is straight foreward. the portion of the valve body where the seal seats was too pourous for the seal to work on my original 57 heater control valve. mike
