Got an answer today from Pertronix re using a ballast resistor with their coil. The instructions that came in the box say not to use a ballast resistor, which I thought was wrong. So I questioned them on this point. The instructions do not distinguish between original ignition systems with points and converted systems with their electronic switching system ("Ignitor"). The instructions simply say to remove the ballast resistor.

That information only applies if you are using this coil (40011) with our
Ignitor conversion. If you are using this coil with your stock points, then
you want to keep the ballast resistor.
