Some advice needed 55 Carb

I built up a spare 55 engine for my 55 Corvette complete but the Carb I have is the first design and need a second design base plate to match my # ,Here is the first design plate and was thinking of cutting off the bell crank support to make it look more like a second design. Your opinion's Thanks

Roy: I wouldnt alter the early carb bellcrank. They are hard enough to find. Since this is for the "spare eng/carb" , there is time to look around via the '55 Chevy guys if there are late '55 carbs kicking around. Unless "time" is creating a problem for you... Ask the Membership, if they know of any "old '55 Chey Guys" who have discarded their old 265 V8s or carbs that are cluttering the garage.....Sam
