Re: 1967 VIN /build Date Help

      Mark,

For what it is worth, the VIN (last five) on my 67 convertible is 22049 with a birthday of June 29, 1967 (Thursday). The body build date is K19(June 19), but it is an A O Smith Body build which would account for the lag in time.

My small block engine is dated 06/26 (V0626HE for a base engine).

        Jerry,
Thanks, that actually helps. With this being a St. Louis body. Does your your body number correspond to the body build date? Somehow?
        thanks again

Yes, Mark, that VIN from the frame makes sense.
All the numbers now tie together in typical sequence.

My 67 St.Louis body build date is K16. The VIN is 21135 and the C2 registry gives it a June 17th (Saturday) birthday. The Wisconsin NCRS site gives it a June 19th (Monday) birthday.

My 327/350 L-79 has engine date of June 5th (V0605HT). The block casting date is E317 (May 31,1967).

              Mark,

The body number on mine ought to correspond to the body build date, as I will have had this car 40 years this month. But the number is only the sequence number at AO Smith, only somewhat related to the car production date. It is A-4837 for a K19 body on mine.

What engine does the car you are looking at have in it now, and is it a small block body or big block body.

If you are looking to the restore it, without the original engine or transmission, you are probably in for a big time job. If you just want a driver as is, it might be a good deal.

If it is a big block, you might want to get someone to look at it, if you have restoration in mind. With the mis-stamp in the VIN, and NOM, I think I'd pass it up, unless it is a super deal and you just want a driver
