            Alan,

            I would not be comfortable using the 1" bolts but you forgot to factor in the thickness of the hood hinge. I think they would work ok but I would definately take the point off them so there shorter.

                Alan,

                I seem to recall previous discussion regarding paint. I think the hinges were bolted on prior to body paint, then got painted over with blackout. I verified this with my unrestored 64 by wiping some thinner on a bolt head and found white paint underneath.
