What could be the minimum time between a 54 engine casting date and assembly date?

The 6-cylinder blocks came from the Saginaw Foundry to Flint Motor (the 6-cyl. plant), just as the V-8 blocks came from Saginaw to Flint V-8. Although V-8 examples have been seen that were machined/assembled the same day they were cast, that's hardly the norm. A couple of days to a couple of weeks would be more "typical", although the span could be longer.

Here are "a few" six-cylinder blocks on the shipping dock at the Saginaw Foundry.
