    1980 door sticker help please

I have found someone who is able to reproduce the door information decal for my 1980 Corvette. The lower right corner of the decal contains a code 1Y? ABF... and I believe this is the spare tire code.
I took the spare tire out and found the code YA stamped in the spare wheel near the tire valve.
I would like to order this decal and would like to check what code should be on my decal.
Am I right to say that my decal should have the code 1YA rather than 1YF?
    Thank you

That code is the broadcast code for the tire pressure label that corresponds to the tire size code. In 1980 1YB was the code for a 255/60 series tire and the label photo you posted shows that 1YF is the tire pressure label for a 225/70 series. If your tires are 225/70, than 1YF is the correct code. It has nothing to do with the spare tire.

Re: 1980 door sticker help please

According to the NCRS 80-82 Technical inf.guide the code 1Y???? is Spare tire pressure.
Found this picture of a July 1980 Vette with 225/70/15 tire and the code is 1YA.
I have seen some codes 1YA, 1YB and 1YF and want to make sure that I have the right information.
      Thank you

And there is actually more than that if you assess 78-82 but in any given year...there are only two to certify the "tire pressure" for the tires on that vehicle and those were either 255/60 or 225/70s.

If you had access to a build sheet, you would see that it called out the tire pressure label and it was either 1YA or 1YB in 1980. It has nothing to do with the spare tire and the label formats your posting are not the same as those in the manual. Understand...those formats changed over those years and I'm not exactly sure what year the guide represents but its not what your photosl show. It most likely reflects an 81 or 82.

Granted it shows 1YA...but it is the code of the label for the four regular tires and only ironic that its the same code as the spare tire code. The 1980 build sheet I looked at is a 1YA...at first blush, it appeared to be 1YF but the last character is fuzzy and could be interpreted as a YF or YA but your photo clears it up. Go with 1YA but it has nothing to do with spare tire pressure.

Was wondeing who it is that reproduces door stickers. I removed the blue sticker from my '72 prior to restoration, and still have it, but would like a repro to put back on the door.

I am not sure, but I seem to remember that Jim Osborne Reproductions made that decal. You have to fill in the information though.

Re: 1980 door sticker help please

Whenever I was doing anything underneath the car I could see a little piece of my Build sheet.
It was mentioned earlier, that I would be able to find the right tire code on my Build sheet, so I have dropped the fuel tank today and found my Build sheet.
It took me four hours today and all I have found is this little piece of the Build sheet.

P.S. As I said it took four hours today to find this little piece of my Build sheet. Should I be disappointed or glad that I have found at least a little bit?
                Thank you
                Paul

                      I think I understand!
In 1980 the tire option for Corvette was either 225 or 255.
225 tire would have different tire pressure to 255 tire and as it is required to show recommended tire pressure for vehicle Chevrolet made sure that they supplied the correct information to owners with desired tire option.
To make it easier the label for 225 tire was coded 1YA and 255 tire option was coded 1YB.
                      Am I right?

Sort of...had to do a few edits to get at what you're thinking. All options had RPOs or regular production numbers and broadcast codes affiliated with them. Just like the 225 tire had a QGB RPO, the correct tire pressure label associated with that tire carried a 1YA.

These RPOs are called out on the build sheets as you've discovered. So a factory worker would look at a build sheet, find the broadcast code for that particular option (1YA) go to a bin and find the correct part (label) with that code, grab it, lick it and glue it onto the door. I'm including a link to an article on late model build sheets. Read up on it and it will provide some background to what you're lookiing for.
